The Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award (JUWSPA) is an exciting platform for established and emerging Australian photographers to showcase their work.
Presented by Gallery at HOTA, Home of the Arts and supported in perpetuity by the Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Foundation for the Arts, it is considered one of the most important awards for contemporary Australian photographic practice.
JUWSPA is also one of Australia’s most generous photography awards with a prize value of up to $50,000. First prize is a $25,000 acquisitive cash prize and the Gallery will award up to an additional $25,000 in acquisitions to a selection of finalists.
‘JUWSPA is a great opportunity. It brings the best in contemporary photography to the Gold Coast, but more broadly to Queensland, where there are limited opportunities to see and exhibit photography.’ said Diana Warnes, Head of Curatorial Projects, Gallery at HOTA.
Entries open Monday 2 July and close Friday 24 August.
The award was first introduced in 2002. Over the years, the photographic works in the collection have grown and now aligns with an exciting time in HOTA’s evolution.
